Churchill CC

Sunday, 18 July 2010
Result:
Churchill Cricket Club, Somerset
Details:
Butler XI 223 (Ben Wilkinson 82 not out, Brian Mack 31, Chris Langley 25 not out) Churchill CC 224 for 5 (S Griffin 3-50, O Masters 1-36, C Langley 1-46). Churchill win by 5 wickets.

A far better performance all round, against Chris’s home team, with Ben back in form, Brian cutting and pulling, Chris himself putting his regular teammates to the sword and a perfectly respectable 223 on the board. If only we had some quickish bowlers!

Instead, Churchill were allowed to plunder runs from all directions, while we conceded 16 extras and the match with just a couple of overs left to play. It was a more even contest than the previous day, partly because we had McCormack and Langley to give us some backbone (and partly because Churchill are more our kind of standard). Excellent tea, by the way, with the most delicious tart.

Man of the Match:
Sean Griffin, making a respectable 14 as opener and taking three wickets
Champagne Moment:
Steve stumping their number five for 47.
Bad Behaviour Award:
The opposition scorer who put down ‘R Mack’ having presumably heard ‘Ryan Mack’.
