Ishøj CC, Copenhagen
Set in a leafy suburb of Copenhagen a brisk 15 minute walk from the train station, Ishøj’s team comprised a friendly, family-based bunch of Pakistanis with various brother and father-son combinations, playing in brightly coloured pyjamas. Asked to bat, we made reasonable if unspectacular progress on the artificial pitch, reaching 122 thanks to Steve’s careful and energetic innings and James’s watchful batting. Apart from Andy Hosken (a commendable 18), the rest of us went cheaply.
Out in the field, we performed pretty well as a unit, but couldn’t keep the run rate down and we’d had our chips by the 19th over. Very nice opposition, shame we couldn’t give them a better game.
